'Be the star' of  'Andong International Mask Dance Festival!'
 

[Andong=News channel A] Starting with the opening ceremony today (October 1st), the Andong International Mask Dance Festival will open grandly on the theme of "Fancy Blooming Mask and Dance."
 

This year, the festival’s grounds will be expanded north and south around the old train station in the historical downtown to incorporate the urban area in the celebrations and maximize the economic and cultural benefits for the city and its visitors.
 

The Mask Dance Park will host domestic and foreign mask dance performances, food stalls, an amusement park and exciting entertainment. The main stage will be located on the site of the former train station, and surrounded by delicious food, fun attractions, and popup stores.
 

Food festivals, and other events, including cultural and artistic performances and exhibitions, integrated with the local commercial sector, will be held in the downtown area in Ungbu Park and Culture Park.
 

On October 1st, on the eve of the opening day, the festival will get off to a flying start with performances by guest celebrities such as Park Hyun-bin and Hong Jin-young on the main stage of the old train station. On October 2nd, the opening day, the Hahoe Byeolsingut Talnori Gangshin Madang and the historical city center parade will pray for the beginning of the festival and everyone’s well-being.
 

This year's opening ceremony of the Mask Dance Festival is a show combining cutting edge technology and traditional performances, followed by fireworks, setting the festival off to a splendid start. Interactive celebrations will be held with "Korea's Mask Dance", which is registered in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage for Humanity, modern mask dances, drone shows, and Daedong Nanjang.

 On October 3rd, a K-pop performance featuring idol singers Stacey, Bewhy, and Woody, and a mask EDM party featuring Crying Nut, Boom Beat, and DJ Sepo will turn up the festival.
 
From October 6th, a world mask game competition, a creative mask contest, a mask-wearing talent, and a random play dance open to anyone wearing a mask will be held. You will also be able to check out mask dance-related contents such as culture and arts performance halls, world mask exhibition halls, mask dance festival metaverse experience halls, and historical photo exhibitions all around the city.
 

Throughout the years, the Andong International Mask Dance Festival has found its pride in showcasing mask dance performances, whether traditional, designated as intangible cultural heritage, or more contemporary interpretations. This year, eleven overseas performance troupes from ten countries and 18 domestic performance troupes, which were recognized as part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity last year, are invited to present some of the best performances from home and abroad. In particular, a Jeju Ipchun-gut, which is coming to Andong for the first time this year, will be performed at Mask Dance Park.
